Transforming Your Group's Experience into an Unforgettable Journey
School groups, encompassing students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, as well as those in community colleges and universities, are invited to explore the rich history of Alcatraz Island. Prior permission is required for school groups of 20 or more students.
Engage your students with the island’s fascinating past through two interactive educational programs provided by the National Park Service. These programs offer students the chance to unravel the multifaceted history of Alcatraz, including its time as a military fortification (1854-1933), a federal penitentiary (1934-1963), a beacon of American Indian activism and self-determination (1969-1971), a sanctuary for myriad bird species, and a muse for numerous Hollywood films.
For detailed information about the educational programs facilitated by the National Park Service, educators are encouraged to visit the NPS resources specifically designed for teachers.
Please note that each group of nine students must be accompanied by at least one adult leader aged 21 or older.
Due to the high demand and the advanced booking of dates, it’s advisable to submit your request as early as possible. Keep in mind that full payment is required 30 days before the scheduled departure date, or the reservation will be forfeited.
To initiate the process for your School Group visit, please fill out the application request form and allow a 30-day period for the review. Following the initial request, a comprehensive application form will be provided for completion.
We value your interest in Alcatraz City Cruises and are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to host your educational group soon!
